Hello Mumbaians! The wait is over; and its time now to mark the date on calendar for experiencing this year’s popular edition of Kala Ghoda Festival. Since its debut appearance in 1999, the Kala Ghoda Festival has gained overwhelming response from ample of visitors across the globe. Organised by a Non-Profit Organisation called Kala Ghoda Association, this is a nine-day long event, which kick-offs its festive journey every year on the first Saturday of February and culminates always on the second Sunday in February. Like every year, spectators are waiting with equal enthusiasm to unveil its 2017 edition, which is going to be unveiled on February 4 in the Kala Ghoda region of South Mumbai. This nine-day event will come to end on February 12.

What distinguishes Kala Ghoda Arts Festival from any other usual fiesta is its cultural blend of music, dance, street plays, literature, drama, workshops, opera of puppets, stalls, cinema programmes, heritage bus tour, food and many more exciting events. Here one can also rejoice a wonderful showcase of art by various world famed artists. Furthermore, the Kala Ghoda Festival is open for public and this is absolutely free of cost.
Last year, over 1, 50,000 footfalls of spectators were reported in the Kala Ghoda region for witnessing more than 600 events. After such consistent and successful journey, this year also the organiser is quite hopeful about the festival. Apart from numerous spectators from all over the city of Mumbai and world, this cultural festival is also graced by many renowned celebrities from different fields of interests. So, you never know when you come to spot your favourite celebs amidst numerous audiences.
Another attraction of this popular Kala Ghoda Arts Festival is the culinary section, where various well-famed chefs flock to give live demonstration on different scrumptious cuisines. Additionally, one Literature Section is also organised here for promoting various popular books by allowing some prominent authors to participate in live talk-shows. Besides, workshops for adults & children and heritage walk are two other attractions that pull many visitors to this popular festival.
One of the most phenomenal parts of this entire festival is that whatever funds raised from the festival are further donated towards the refurbishment of the area.
Considering the number of events and mounting footfalls, the Kala Ghoda Arts Festival is organised at multiple venues like Mahatma Gandhi Road, K Dubash Marg, Shaheed Bhagat Singh Road, Cross Maidan at Mahatma Gandhi Road, Churchgate. The importation auditorium and halls are arranged in the places like including Lawns at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Vastu Sangrahalaya (CSMVS), Max Mueller Bhavan, The Asiatic Society Library at Town Hall, Jehangir Art Gallery, Hornbill House Auditorium at Bombay Natural History Society (BNHS), Irish House etc.

By Air: Located around 30Kms away from the city centre, Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport is the nearest airport to reach Mumbai. By Road: Public transport of Mumbai (BEST) is quite popular for its effective services. All these venues mentioned above are within 3-4Kms reach from the nearest railway station.
