Delhi Diwali Melas You Should Visit

Diwali is a great time for family and friends to get together and enjoy. It is a popular festival where people burst firecrackers and indulge in shopping. While In India during the Diwali season, make sure to visit the various Melas (Fairs) in and around the city.

1. Sunder Nagar Diwali Mela

Sunder Nagar Mela is a favorite haunt for Delhiites looking to soak in the fun of Diwali. The fest is known for its giant Ferris Wheel, magic shows and countless food stalls. Families will love the shopping kiosks and various knicks knacks sold there. While there, do try the Dilli ki chaat served at the food stalls here. You can buy everything from handicrafts, jewellery, clothes, bags, colourful floating candles, diyas to various cute toys and decorative pieces for your near and dear ones.

2. Blind School Diwali Mela

This is another popular Mela in Delhi which offers visitors huge collections of ‘diyas’ and candles. These items are made by blind school students and there are many items on offer.

This event has been organized in the past few years by the Blind School Relief Association in New Delhi. You can buy beautiful handmade candles and painted pots for plants which are much in demand. The stalls here have a lot of unique home décor items on sale. Popular here are the famous food stalls which offer cuisines from different states of India. Try the spicy Rajasthani Thali and Matka Kulfi while you are here.

3. Select Citywalk Diwali Bazaar

Take a trip to the Select Citywalk Diwali Bazaar to get gifts for your family and friends. You can buy apparels, accessories and decorative pieces for your home. Jewellery enthusiasts can buy pretty looking imitation jewellery and hand-painted trays here.

4. Epicentre Diwali Mela

This event is known for its Diwali Laughathon presented by the Papa CJ Comedy Company. Visitors can shop here and indulge their taste buds in some lovely dishes on offer. You can also try some of the homemade chocolates and cakes on offer.

5. Defence Colony Diwali Bazaar

This Mela is known for its bustling and fun-filled atmosphere. Located in the posh locality of Defence Colony, it has many food and shopping kiosks which add to its charm. One can dance to the foot-tapping music played here and also watch dance performances by famous dance troops. The Mela has a lot of gaming stalls for kids and adults.
