Witness the 69th Republic Day of India

Proud moment of all Indian citizens as the nation waits fervently for its 69th Republic Day on January 26. This year the Republic Day celebration is going to be unique of its kind as the event will have 10 chief guests including the heads of the ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) leaders from Thailand, Malaysia, Myanmar, Cambodia, Indonesia, Philippines, Singapore, Cambodia, Laos and Brunei. This prestigious day is celebrated in the reverence to the Indian Constitution that came into existence on the same day in 1950. Today, January 26 is eminent as the Republic Day of India where the nation salutes to all the martyrs who have sacrificed their lives for the nation.

Like every year, the prime feature of the Republic Day is the parade that takes places at the iconic India Gate. This year it is reported that around 100 Government agencies will take part in this prestigious event to witness the 10 Heads of the ASEAN leaders. The key highlight of the ASEAN leader’s participation is the completion of their 50 years of partnership and 25 years of partnership of India with the grouping.


Actual event gets initiated on January 25 when the Present of India addresses the nation, which is web telecasted to the citizens of India. This year Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi will receive all ASEAN leaders at the event venue along with Ram Nath Kovind, the President of India. Thousands of spectators will start gathering the venue to witness the spectacular parade of Republic Day that will include participants from the Air Force, Navy and Indian Army. Besides, more than 700 students from the guest nations and over 100 female from the BSF (Border Security Force) will also take part in the event performing audacious stunts and biking activities.

Witnessing the Republic Day event offers you number of activities including petals shower, parade, stunts and fighter aircraft activities. The celebration is not only at the Rajpath that you get to behold. On contrary; the entire nation pushes the boat out this occasion followed by flag hoisting, national anthem, march-past, fancy-dress competition, music performances, bike rally and much more. The celebration not only confined to sports and cultural performances. Being the symbol of true jingoism and independent nation, on 26th January, the highest gallantry and national awards are also distributed to many armed forces, deserving civilian and students.

Reaching the venue

Since Republic Day is a prestigious event in India, reaching the venue on 26th January is quite troublesome. The reason being, on that day the services of Delhi Metro get partially curtailed. In addition, due to high security affair throughout the city, buses and private vehicles are also restricted in many areas in the city. Hence, considering the security concerns, visitors can hire an auto or a cab or drive their own car to reach till some of the nearby accessible locations like Udyog Bhawan, Central Secretariat, Patel Chowk, Race Course, Mandi House and Pragati Maidan and Barakhamba Road. All these locations are within merely 3Kms reach from Rajpath. Once you reach up to a certain permissible area, you need to cross the remaining distance by walk.
